Let's Rodeo! The 64th Buffalo PRCA Championship Rodeo is June 22-23, 2018. Two performances of rodeo sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) will include "The Art of Trick Roping, Gun Spinning, and Whip Cracking" by cowboy Rider Kiesner, a world champion and Wrangler National Finals Rodeo performer.
"We are excited to bring Rider to town. Our rodeo committee is comprised of volunteers that work countless hours throughout the year to make the show bigger and better every year. As a non-profit we pride ourselves in putting on a PRCA rodeo bringing family-friendly entertainment at an affordable price. Throughout the years the Buffalo Rodeo has grown with the community, and we continue to be an annual tradition," stated Stuart Marquette, rodeo chairman.
Early Bird tickets can be purchased online at www.buffalorodeo.com starting at just $10 for adults and $5 for children (ages 4-11) through May 1, 2018. The historical Buffalo Rodeo grounds are located off Hwy 55 and are one of the few dedicated rodeo arenas in Minnesota.
Kiesner's grandfather, Dick, lives in Buffalo and is beaming with pride his grandson is coming to Buffalo. "You won't see this anywhere else...he just loves to perform," stated Dick Kiesner over the telephone. The elder Kiesner rode bucking horses and roped at the Buffalo Rodeo back in the 1960s. "I was in my 20s then, and I'm 80 years old now. When I competed, it was at the original grounds, not the original rodeo in 1955," he emphasized with a chuckle.
The Kiesner family name is well recognized in the sport of rodeo. Rider's father Phillip started "The Kiesner Family Wild West Revue in 2003" after he finished rodeoing as a saddle bronc contestant. For years young Rider and his little brother Roper performed for the family act. When Rider turned 18-years old, he went solo and purchased his pro card. To date he has traveled all over the world performing his trick roping, whip cracking, and gun spinning.
"Buffalo will be really special this year as my grandparents and cousins will be in the stands. This will be the first time my Grampa Dick will see me in the bullfighting barrel too. My versatility in the rodeo arena will be on full display from spinning six-shooters to maneuvering the barrel. It is super exciting, and a blast as all my rodeo buddies are bullfighters and barrel men," mentioned Rider Kiesner.
At the age of 26, Rider Kiesner is already a 2x World Champion All Around Western Performer, 4x World Champion Trick Roper, and 2x World Champion Gun Spinner. Kiesner has performed in 49 states, lacking only Hawaii, across Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Oman, Dubai, Lebanon, and France. Rider had been featured five times at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, made six appearances at the Cheyenne Frontier Days, Cavalia, RAM Prairie Circuit Finals, RAM National Circuit Finals. Plus he's been nominated four times as the PRCA Dress Act of the Year.
